Listed Rules to Observe
SPEED LIMITS 25 MPH unless otherwise posted.
VEHICLE PARKING All property owners and residents in Highland Lakes will provide
for parking their vehicles on their own property, keeping all roadways clear for county maintenance, snow removal and
security vehicles. Temporary guests vehicles are exempt.
VEHICLE OPERATION All motor-driven vehicles, including snowmobiles, motorcycles,
4-wheelers and motor scooters will be operated only on the established roads in the Highland Lakes area. However, property
owners may operate above stated vehicles on their own property.
ABANDONED VEHICLES Any item considered unsightly or offensive by the Architectural Control committee shall be removed by the owner of the lot on which said items are located.
TRAIL BIKES Trail bikes will not be operated on or off the roads in Highland Lakes Subdivision.
ANIMAL CONTROL Persons owning domestic animals are responsible for their control.
Identifiable owners of these animals declared nuisances will be reminded of the responsibility. Continued failure to keep these animals contained will be grounds for civil action.
OPEN FIRES There shall be no open fires in the Highland Lakes Subdivision.
FIREARMS There is no designated area for target practice or place to discharge personal weapons in Highland Lakes. Until one has been established and posted as such, discharge of weapons is prohibited. Therefore, hunting in Highland Lakes is prohibited.
WOODCUTTING Woodcutting on common areas or tracts as designated by the Protective Covenants is prohibited. Persons found to be in violation of this regulation will be prosecuted in Civil Court and charged with destruction of public property and trespassing.
THE LAKES The nine lakes, as part of the Highland Lakes Subdivision, are
used for recreation, fishing, and emergency water supply. They are a valued part of our properties and are to be kept clean
and free of trash. Trash barrels are available at all lakes. Boating is restricted to Elk Lake and no boats are to remain on or near the lake overnight. During the summer, boats may be placed behind the dam at the owners risk. See current Fishing Rules and Regulations for detailed use of the lakes and fishing rules.
VOICING COMPLAINTS Any member of the Association wishing to comment, complain, or bring suggestions before the board of directors will do so in writing. All correspondence received will be acted upon at the next regular meeting of the Board and the Board will reply in writing the results of the action taken by the Board.
EXPLODING DEVICES Because of the extreme fire dangers and our remote location and distance from the fire equipment protection, the shooting of fireworks, i.e. firecrackers, Roman candles, rockets, rocket propelled devices and all other explosive devices, is prohibited. Violators will be prosecuted in Civil Court.
